I respect folks who say what they mean, mean what they say, and do what they say they’re going to do, and I try like hell to be one of them. I’ve known a couple of people for whom their personal code of honor came first, before any other consideration, before love, before money. I think it’s important to be ready, willing and able to stand up for what’s right, even if you stand all alone.
ESPECIALLY if you stand all alone
I admire and am inspired by people who are.
We could use a few more of them.

My Guitar, My Caballo and Me
Some men are born to be outlaws
Can’t seem to live by the rules
Some think that makes ‘em heroes
Some think it just makes ‘em fools
I never was much for thinkin’
But I think I like bein’ free
Here is my creed: I’ve got all that I need
My guitar, my caballo and me.
Too full of fun and tequila
I once had myself quite a spree
Woke up a guest of the jailer
Looked like the joke was on me.
That night a sweet senorita
Dropped by to lend me the key
No one was around so I slipped out of town
After thanking her first, properly.
Some men are born to be outlaws
Can’t seem to live by the rules
Some think that makes ‘em heroes
Some think it just makes ‘em fools
I never was much for thinkin’
But I think I like bein’ free
Here is my creed: I’ve got all that I need
My guitar, my caballo and me.
I never wanted to own something I couldn’t carry
I like to sleep on the ground and gaze up at the stars
Not much for settlin’ down and I’m not one to marry
My only friends are my horse and this old guitar.
I take a bite when I’m hungry
I take drink when I’m dry
I laugh when the time comes for laughin’
I cry when the time comes to cry
I say what I mean and do what I believe in.
I try to be more right than wrong.
I don’t give a damn who don’t like what I am
I’ve got to sing my own song.
Some men are born to be outlaws
Can’t seem to live by the rules
Some think that makes ‘em heroes
Some think it just makes ‘em fools
I never was much for thinkin’
But I think I like bein’ free
Here is my creed: I’ve got all that I need
My guitar, my caballo and me.

I just love this song.
I must say that I am quite interested to see your presidency (might even vote for you), because when your code of honor lights up Washington's underbelly, the show should be riveting. The pundits will have a field day.
SJ...I guess the Coyote and I have the same taste.
This is a great song...you do so well with your lyrics. It's nice to read things by a man who is so sensitive to the real deal. You have been very busy getting this together. Good job! Ain't common sense grand?
Thank you Lori and Coyote!
I'm so glad you like this one! Of the things I've written, this is one of my favorites. Wrote it on a trail ride.
In my first 24 hours as president, I will appoint a special prosecutor to see that each and every of the co-conspirators in the Bush Fraud/Murder case winds up singing the blues someplace where one-nighters are impossible.
I will also put together a team of lawyers and technical specialists to purge all laws -- whether legislative or administrative -- that violate the bill of rights and
eliminate unwarranted information that has been gathered on American citizens.
Those who have tortured or ordered torture will be spending the rest of their lives in prison, no possibility of parole.
Ooops. Didn't mean to get on my soapbox. I better have some more coffee. :)

Ha! More coffee allows me to climb HIGHER on my soapbox. Rant on. I'm more likely to vote for you, but I am keeping track of your campaign promises.
P.S. What do you think of Biden?
Nice song. I like the music and as i have read the wods before listening to the song, I can understand what it means.
