A Little Lower and to the Right, Please...

When you have an itch you can't reach to scratch yourself, you find out who your friends really are. I enjoy finding a pony's "sweet spots," places they like to be touched. Chest, ears, under the chin. I like it because they like it. It's something I can do for them and I don't ask for anything in return. I think that's a good start for a friendship.

These pictures are nice !
I also like to find where they like me to touch their head.
And I play a game too : Which hand contains a piece of carrot ?
See you soon

I love it when my guys point out with their noses where the itch is for me to scratch. You're right it is a great way to start a friendship with your horse.

Aaruba's sweet spots lately are on his shoulders, about where a breastcollar sits. I was hugging him yesterday, scratching away as he twisted his lip and leaned...and leaned...and lost his balance...and caught it on my foot. *sigh* Why, oh, why, must I always get stepped on by the biggest horse in the vicinity?

When I first got JB he was wild as an elk. It was those sweet spots that bonded us and made me a "safe" person in his eyes. Without itcy spots, I don't know where I would have been. He is the itchiest horse I have ever met as well.

Thanks for your comments, amigos!

Say, Jonna, what's the story on your mounted archery thing?

SJ, The mounted archery is actually the sport that my husband is very involved in. I have done it but not at a competition level, more just fooling around. It's fashioned after the Huns, Sythe's, etc. It's a huge thing over in Europe. I have a couple of links off my blog that could tell you alot more. Thanks for inquiring.
