SLOW DOWN!

Slow down.
Wear your seat belt.
Pay attention.
Don't "multi-task" when you're driving.
NEVER drive when you've consumed alcohol.
The whole world can change in a split second.

We lose about 40, 000 people a year in motor vehicle accidents.
Half of those are kids.

Worried about "gun violence?"
It pales compared to motor vehicle violence.

Be safe.

Love,

Lesser Evil?

You want to get mugged and shot by a guy holding the gun in his right hand?
Or would you prefer to get mugged and shot by a guy holding the gun in his left hand?

Hey, don't complain; you get to choose!

That's just about the degree of choice you have in the Presidential election.

No matter who wins, you lose.

A Rumor of Heroes

These days, when anyone who wears a uniform is lauded as a "hero" -- I thought it would be good to remember a man who defined "honor" and "courage" by his impeccable conduct.

If you don't know about Hugh Thompson, Jr., you should.
Damn few men I respect.
Damn fewer I admire.

But he's one of them.

It Matters

To support your government
When you know damn well it's wrong
Is the lowest  cowardice
And the highest treason.

Obama, yo' mama

Stevie offered this cutting commentary on President Nixon back in about '74.
Looks like not much has changed since then, I'm sorry to say.
Because this goes double for Obama.

Technically, it isn't that he hasn't done nothin.'
It's that he hasn't done nothin' good.

Anyway, I hope you dig this one my one of my favorite writers.

Election slime

Since we're now wading into the cesspool that will be the Presidential election, in which, as everyone knows, the largest turds rise to the top, I thought it would be appropriate to refresh ourselves with a little reality-check courtesy of the late George Carlin, master of profanity, and quite possibly the wisest and most honest man of his time.

I miss him.

Quote du Jour

We don’t expect to live forever, which makes us a lot tougher than the dark side gangsters.  They want to kill us but they don’t want to fight us.  That little basic fact gives some of us a hell of an advantage.  Some of us want nothing more than to fight.
